Download TIFF Surfer Browser Plug-in
TIFF Surfer is free software that allows you to view the Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) images in the City of Santa Barbara's Land Development Team Records Archive.

By downloading this software from the City of Santa Barbara's Web site you agree to the terms of the TIFF Surfer license agreement. Please read all the instructions before downloading. To install TIFF Surfer, please follow the steps below.

Please note: the version of Tiff Surf licensed and provided by the City of Santa Barbara is not the most current version. There are some known incompatibilities with the Windows XP operating system. If you experience problems viewing the documents, here are some options:

a)     The City has identified an alternate Windows TIFF Viewer called brava! reader. This plug-in has been tested and appears to work well with Windows XP. This viewer is free of charge. Click here to link to brava! reader All External web sites will be open in a new browser window..

b)     The City has identified an alternate Windows TIFF Viewer called AlternaTIFF. This plug-in has been tested and appears to work well with Windows XP. Though it is free of charge, registration of the product is required. Click here to link to AlternaTIFF All External web sites will be open in a new browser window..

c)     VisionShape has released a contemporary version of Tiff Surfer that is Windows XP compatible. The current version is available for a free 30-day evaluation and available for purchase from the VisionShape web site. Click here to link to VisionShape Tiff Surfer All External web sites will be open in a new browser window..

d)     Apple QuickTime viewer is available for Windows and Mac OS. Though the TIFF viewing features are not as robust as either Tiff Surfer or AlternaTIFF, it is a no-cost highly compatible alternative. Click here to link to the Apple QuickTime download page All External web sites will be open in a new browser window..
