Youth CineMedia
| Youth CineMedia is a nationally recognized program that utilizes state-of-the-art technology to help teach teenagers the fundamentals of digital video, music production, photography, and other multimedia.
Youth CineMedia (YCM) also provides area youth with the means to create inspiring, thought-provoking media that promotes dialogue and social change, as well as the training, knowledge, and relationships that help foster expression and confidence.
As part of a youth enrichment pilot project, the Creeks Division has been working with Youth CineMedia for two years, focusing on photography, video, and multimedia projects centered around the creeks and ocean, as well as hands-on restoration and clean-up projects.
| Youth involved in the program learn that “it all flows to the ocean” and consider that pollution from neighborhoods washes directly into storm drains and then heads straight for the creeks and ocean.
The collaboration has resulted in thousands of creek and ocean photos taken by local youth, thought-provoking video clips documenting youth involved with creek projects, and professional quality graphics and print ads utilized for Creeks outreach programs.
