Our community centers offer a wide variety of services to resolve family and neighborhood issues and can help find other assistance at no cost to you! All community centers are located near bus stops and are accessible to the disabled.

  • Need a free or low-cost hall for private receptions or meetings?
  • Need a pothole fixed or more lighting on your street?
  • Problems with your neighbors, tenants or landlord?
  • Need legal assistance, bilingual translations or interpretation?
  • Need help filling out complicated forms?
  • Need someone to prepare your income taxes for free?
  • Got an idea for a program or service and need a co-sponsor?
  • Maybe you are a senior citizen and need to find a lunch program near your home.
  • Are you disabled and need assistance?
  • Need to involve your kids in after-school programs?
  • How about growing your own vegetables in our garden program?
  • Are you a young person looking for work experience or need help in getting back into school?
  • Are you a working mom and need affordable childcare?
  • Need an after school or summer drop-in program for your kids?

  • Interested in receiving weekly fresh vegetables and fruits?

Services Available To Seniors At Community Centers*
Homeowners Assistance Program — These are payments the state makes to qualified individuals based on their total household income and portion of the property taxes paid on their homes.
Renters Assistance Program — These are payments made to qualified renters based on their total income. The presumption is made that the landlords apply a portion of rents paid toward the payment of property taxes.
Property Tax Postponement Program — Gives qualified homeowners the option of having the state pay all or part of the property taxes on their homes. The postponed tax amount and accrued interest is paid when one moves, sells the home or dies.
Legal Services — Free legal services are offered free of charge once a week by local volunteer lawyers.
Senior Activities Center — Providing seniors with a place to congregate and take part in varied activities such as bingo, crafts, cards, pool, or reading.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) — Volunteers are trained by the IRS and the Franchise Tax Board to assist in the free preparation of state and federal income tax.
Senior Nutrition — Hot lunches are provided for seniors 60 years of age or older. Reservations for lunch are required 24 hours in advance. Home delivery can be arranged for the frail and homebound. Donations requested.
Benefit Outreach Program — Assistance is available to screen for various Social Security benefits such as Supplemental Security Income Program (SSI), Medi-Cal, and aid programs provided by the County of Santa Barbara Social Services Department.
HICAP: Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program — HICAP provides free and unbiased assistance for Medicare beneficiaries
Senior Brown Bag Program — Brown Bag distributes market-sized bags of groceries to area seniors twice a month.
Internet Access for Seniors — Providing an Internet training and access venue for seniors free of charge.
Senior Health Promotion Project — Assists "well" older adults by providing comprehensive Health Assessment and Individual Counseling session to discuss health concerns and achieving health goals.
Flu Shots and Immunization Clinics — Held once a year during the October-November period.
Senior Physical Exercise Program — Providing seniors with a weekly physical exercise training program.
Mobile Farmers Market — Free vegetables and fruits on a weekly basis.
Mobile Food Pantry — Free groceries on a monthly basis
Referral Services — Providing information and referral to seniors regarding a wide array of services available to them. Examples include: the Senior Directory, monthly publications for Seniors, bus schedules, pamphlets and flyers on programs provided by non-profit agencies, businesses and local government.
