Dear Fellow Employees,
October marks the beginning of the City’s Annual Charitable Giving Campaign. I hope you will join me in participating in this program to help important non-profit and charitable organizations in our community.
Despite the many challenges facing our City, we are fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful areas of California. We enjoy the benefits of a steady pay check and generous benefit program. But others in our community are not nearly as fortunate. Many governmental programs available in our community depend on assistance from non governmental agencies to provide critical services. These non-profits provide a myriad of services such as health care, child care, hospice services, literacy programs, senior assistance, and care for disabled children.
Other organizations in our community address areas that enrich our lives. For example, local non-profits help to protect our environment, provide support to many educational and athletic programs, fund college scholarships, and care for injured animals. And many cultural institutions depend on charitable contributions to support their programs and outreach to students.
Even though many in our organization have been required to make sacrifices due to the impacts of the recession, it is important to set a positive example for others in our community. I hope you will join me in participating in this year’s charitable giving campaign.
Sincerely,

Jim Armstrong, City Administrator
