Dear Fellow Employees,
I am really excited and honored to be serving as Chairperson for this year’s Charitable Giving Campaign, which will run from October 11 through November 11, 2011. The campaign affords us all the opportunity to assist local non-profit and charitable organizations that provide many critical services to our community. Our contributions also help enrich the lives of those segments of our population that otherwise would not have access to the resources that most of us enjoy every day.
Our theme this year is “Now More Than Ever.” As you know, the recent economic crisis has impacted many people. Unfortunately, in times like this people tend to give less to local charities. However, as I reflect on the many blessings in my life and how fortunate I am to live in such a beautiful community, I am reminded that there are many who are less fortunate and much more affected by these tough economic times than I. It is in times such as these that the services provided by local non-profit and charitable organizations are needed even more.
I personally feel it important to give back to my community and support those organizations that help make our entire community a better place to live. In the spirit of this year’s theme, I will be increasing my annual contribution starting this year to the “Leadership” level. Perhaps this will encourage others to increase their contributions or to start giving for the first time.
Please see your department campaign representative to find out about an upcoming presentation in your department where you can hear about the many great programs funded through this campaign. And though it’s not why we give, you may be one of the lucky City employees that win one of the many prizes that will be given and raffled this year!
