Recycle at Work: What it's all about

Santa Barbarans are great recyclers. Residents are diverting about 50% of their waste with recycling and greenwaste bins, but businesses are only diverting about 15%. Business recycling is a lot more difficult than recycling at home, so the City of Santa Barbara is launching the Recycle at Work program to help businesses start or improve their recycling. This is what we offer:

  • Free indoor recycling bins
  • Free consultation on how to set up your bins
  • Interface with your landlord
  • Brochures that tell you how and what to recycle
  • Posters that tell you what to recycle
  • Training for your workers
  • Training for your janitorial staff
  • Economic analysis of the savings possible for your business

You can take advantage of as many or as few of these services as you would like. Most of the bins we distribute are desk side recycling bins, but we also have larger containers for copy machines and central areas. Call 564-5628 to get the containers.

Go to the Recycling page to find out what is recyclable in your container. You can also link to the business section of the Solid Waste Website for information on how to dispose of furniture, appliances, hazardous wastes, and electronics, as well as a complete explanation of how the recycling and trash system works.
