Leadership Council – South Coast Task Force on Youth Gangs

Purpose:

The purpose of the South Coast Task Force on Youth Gangs Leadership Council is to serve as the overall oversight group of the effort to end the negative effects of youth gangs.  The Leadership Council will:

  • Represent a South Coast regional commitment to a five-year pilot program to end youth gangs and violence
  • Commit to support the effort and secure the resources to accomplish the mission
  • Call for performance measures to evaluate and continue program funding
  • Focus on ending youth gangs and violence
  • Meet jointly with Executive Council, as necessary, to receive reports on program progress and accomplishment


Description:  

The South Coast Task Force on Youth Gangs Leadership Council is to be composed of elected officials and community leaders who are members of political jurisdictions or organizations who can commit resources to end youth gang violence.

Meeting Frequency:

The Leadership Council, likely, will meet twice a year. 

Subscription to this list provides email notification of the electronic agenda posting for the South Coast Task Force on Youth Gangs Leadership Council. The Council will meet every six months or as needed to provide direction.


Executive Council – South Coast Task Force on Youth Gangs

Purpose: 

The Executive Council’s purpose is envisioned to be as follows:

  • Oversee implementation of direction received from the Leadership Council;
  • Keep the Task Force focused on the youth gang problem;
  • Promote coordination and collaboration;
  • Reduce bureaucracy;
  • Serve as a pass-through structure for joint projects and funding;
  • Allocate resources;
  • Hire/oversee the Coordinator; and 
  • Promote institutionalization of policies and programs.



Description:  

As envisioned, the Executive Council for the South Coast Task Force on Youth Gangs is to be composed of chief executive officers of South Coast governmental, law enforcement, social services, businesses and non-profit organizations who provide direction and funding for South Coast partnerships involved in the intervention, prevention and suppression of youth gang violence.

The Executive Council will meet every other month.
