The Santa Barbara Police Department Explorer Post is a volunteer organization for young adults, age 14 to 21, who have an interest in a career in law enforcement. The Explorer Post provides in-depth education in skills such as leadership, interpersonal communication, community relations, command presence, career planning, and more.

The Santa Barbara Police Explorer Post is supervised by two Police Officer Advisors. The officers are also assigned to the D.A.R.E. Program. 

To join the Santa Barbara Police Explorer Post, call 897-2452 and leave your name, age, address, and phone number. You will receive an Explorer Post application which must be filled out and returned to the Santa Barbara Police Department. You will be notified of the next testing date.
