The Streets Maintenance section maintains the City's existing transportation and drainage system infrastructure within the public right-of-way.

When changes are needed, Streets Maintenance crew changes, relocates, and/or installs new  painted curb zones, pavement striping and markings, and traffic signs upon prior review and  approval by the Transportation Operations and Police Department staff, as needed.  

Here is a list of issues handled by Streets Maintenance:

º Pavement patching and pothole repairs. (Note slurry sealing is handled by Engineering)
º Curb and gutter repairs and replacement Street sweeping
º Traffic and street sign installation and replacement
º Painting pavement lane striping, curbs, crosswalks, arrows, and stop limit bars
º Sidewalk replacement, Padding uplifted sidewalk and grinding small uplifts
º Brick leveling on State Street sidewalks
º Storm drain maintenance
º Street barricades and temporary no parking signs for special events
º Checks and cleans pedestrian bridges and walkways
º Empties public trash cans near bridges, scenic outlooks
º Removes abandoned furniture and roadway debris
º Maintains center dividers, medians, and round-abouts
º Graffiti abatement on public property and graffiti notifications to private property owners
º Operates Laguna Channel Pump Station and tide gates at East Beach
º Neighborhood cleanups
º Homeless encampment cleanups
º Weed abatement
º Cleanup of railroad corridor (in conjunction with Union Pacific Railroad)
