| | Fleet Management Programs Our mission is to manage the motorized fleet and fleet support services to cost effectively provide safe, reliable vehicles and equipment for all City departments. | | City Fleet Maintenance: Provides maintenance services to all vehicles and equipment in the City’s Fleet.
Pool Vehicle Program: Maintains an appropriate number of pool vehicles to adequately serve the City of Santa Barbara’s staff in completing their duties. Monitor the automated reservations system to insure that the vehicles are fully utilized and to ensure vehicle availability.
Fleet Renewal and Vehicle Replacement: Manages the vehicle Capital Program completing timely and orderly replacement of City Fleet vehicles and equipment. Fleet Management develops the vehicle specifications and ensures that the proper equipment is purchased at the right price. | Alternative Fuel Vehicles: Research the newest alternative fuel technologies and evaluate the applicability to the City’s fleet vehicles. The City’s fleet uses re-refined oil and Biodiesel (B20) in most diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, has recently expanded the use of hybrid sedans in the City’s vehicle pool and purchased electric vehicles for shorter trips around town. Fueling Service and Infrastructure: Maintains safe, efficient and reliable City refueling sites and maintains the City’s fueling system in compliance with all regulatory requirements. Manages commercial refueling contracts for City vehicles. Environmental Compliance: Properly dispose of or recycle hazardous materials, such as oil, coolant, and batteries.
