Corporate Yard Well Replacement
Construction Begins in February 2013

The City of Santa Barbara Public Works Department will be drilling a new potable water well in the Parks and Recreation Yard, located at 420 East Ortega, beginning in mid-February.  The project will take approximately eight weeks to complete, and there will be approximately 14 days of intermittent 24-hour construction activity throughout the eight-week construction window.

Nearby residents and businesses may experience a temporary increase in construction noise at night; however, a temporary 24-foot tall sound wall will be installed in the Parks and Recreation Yard that is designed to minimize noise from the drilling operation.

The new well replaces one that was drilled in the 1970’s and has recently failed.  The replacement well is part of the City’s Downtown well field that supplements water supplies for the City of Santa Barbara.

We are doing our best to minimize the impacts to our neighbors during the construction process and we appreciate your patience as we make improvements to our City’s water supply.  If you have any comments or questions, please contact Carson Wollert, Project Engineer, at (805) 564-5376 or Cwollert@santabarbarca.gov. Para la información en español llame por favor (805) 564-5460.
