The Lower Westside Center at 629 Coronel Place has been in operation since 1979 and was originally a project of the Lower Westside Neighborhood Planning Council. The Lower Westside Center Advisory Committee was officially formed in April 1982 to advise the City Council and the Director of the Lower Westside Center regarding maintenance, operation, management, and use policies of the Center and to advise the City Council as to other matters pertaining to the Center upon request of the City Council.

Qualifications
Members are not required to be qualified electors of the City.
- Four members must be residents or employees of the Lower Westside Neighborhood (Census Tracts 12.02, 12.03 or 12.04).
- Three members shall represent the public at large.
Length of Term
Four years and until successors are appointed. Staggered terms expire December 31 of the appropriate year.
Meeting Schedule
The Committee meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Lower Westside Center, 629 Coronel Place.
Time Involved
A minimum of 1 – 2 hours per month for meetings and related activities.
