Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-R) Funding Amount: $289,274

Funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Recovery Act Community Development Block Grant funds are for hard development costs associated with infrastructure activities.  These activities promote energy efficiency and conservation through rehabilitation of existing buildings that provide basic services to residents.

These funds are in addition to the funds allocated in the 2008/2009 Action Plan.  The funding amount is based on a formula that is determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  CDBG-R Substantial Amendment Document

Franklin Center and Public Health Clinic – Rehabilitation will include: roof replacement; installation of an electronic building automation system to control all lighting and mechanical systems; installation of lighting occupancy sensors to minimize light6ing “on” time; system commissioning to ensure that all mechanical and electrical systems are balanced and working according to design; and installation of air to air economizers on air conditioning systems to enable outside air to cool the building instead of mechanical cooling.

Alisos Street Sidewalk, Access Ramp and Lighting Installation – The project will modernize the infrastructure on this residential street, including he installation of sidewalks and curb cuts at intersections and to meet ADA requirements.

Job Apprenticeship Program – Expand educational opportunities for low-income youth by providing participants with training and temporary employment to increase their potential for future employability.
