 May 21st is Bike to Work Day. Participants will be treated to free food, drinks, and prizes from 7:00 to 9:00 am at State and De La Guerra Streets. For information, contact Sarah Grant at 897-2669. May 20th is Bike to School Day. Events include bike rodeos and bicycle safety instruction at participating schools prior to Bike Week.  Premieres Sunday, May 18 at 8:00 PM on City TV, Channel 18. Every work day, over 35,000 people commute in and out of Santa Barbara County. Since most of those commuters drive alone, that means more greenhouse gas emissions, increased traffic congestion, huge fuel costs, and lots of time wasted behind the wheel. In this half-hour television program, we'll show you that there's an easier way to get to work - be it a bus, carpool, or vanpool.

 A Butterfly Garden at Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens (Arrellaga side) will be planted on Saturday, May 24, from 8am to 1pm at the Volunteer Workday. City of Santa Barbara Home Page NewsAmericans With Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan and Self-Evaluation Updates Public Outreach Meeting: June 12, 2008, 5:30 P.M., at Casa Las Palmas, 323 East Cabrillo Boulevard
 The final draft of the ADA Transition Plan and Self-evaluation reports will be presented to the community. Public comment will be accepted and there will be time for questions & answers. The meeting will inform the community on the process and methodology utilized to develop the Plan, summarize the facility evaluation findings and describe the Transition Plan barrier removal prioritization.  The Public Library will have a one-day sale of old, rare and valuable books on Saturday, May 17, from 10 to 4 in the Townley Room of the Central Library, 40 E. Anapamu St. Fine art books, photography books and rare reference sets, books signed by Carl Sandburg and Willem de Kooning, and other signed and first edition books will be offered, including donated items that are too specialized or valuable to add to the library collection.  The City of Santa Barbara is taking applications for appointments to the Santa Barbara Youth Council and Teen Center Advisory Board. The Youth Council is an advisory group to the Mayor, City Council and Park and Recreation Commission. The group consists of 17 teens from 14 to 19 years of age.
